From kitten heel shoes to high heel pumps, there are many different types of heels women can choose from to stand out confidently among the crowd. Different shoes call for different occasions, so things like outfits, events, and even the amount of predicted standing time are worth considering when selecting the perfect footwear. Take a look at some of our favorite types of heels below to find your ideal match for just about every outing.

Wedges: Make wedge heels and sandals your go-to’s for events that call for comfort. If you plan to be standing for a long time at a concert or party, these are an excellent choice for showing off your radiant style without killing your feet. Wedges are raised, chunky-style shoes that stand tall at the front, and even taller at the back. Best of all, the heels covers the entire bottom of the shoe for total ease of movement even after a cocktail or two.

Pumps: These are your classic high heel shoes. What they may lack in comfort, they make up for with style in spades. Perhaps the most popular choice for a traditional high heel, these babies encompass style and sophistication that work well all the way from the office to happy hour. Best of all, there are many different types available ranging from mule pumps to two-piece pumps and so much more.

Kitten Heels: These cute heels are adored by those who love a slight raise, usually without being more than 1-3 inches tall. These are often considered a very happy medium between the comfort of wedges and the style of pumps. However, the heel is wider than pumps and shaped like a funnel with the narrowest point along the bottom of the heel. Perfect for dresses with a flattering fit along the torso and flared below the waist, kitten heels know how to make a bold statement with the right look.

High Heel Sandals: Just like they’re called, these are essentially sandals with some sexy heels attached. High heel sandals come in a variety of designs, although chunky styles are usually more common. These are a must-have for the summer season as well as tropical getaways. Not only do they allow your feet to relax and breathe, but you’ll be totally resort-ready all the way from brunch to the pool or wherever the day may take you.

Block Heels: Much like wedge heels, block heels are both chunky and comfy. What differentiates these from wedges is having a square or cylindrical heel shaped like an extra-wide stiletto. Because it has an abrupt ending between the heel and the arch of the foot, block heels have an almost-triangular cutout separating the heel from the ball of the shoe.

Stilettos: For a sexy look that dares to be noticed, stilettos are the way to go. Not exactly comfortable, but when you want to dress to the nines for date nights and formal affairs, your stilettos will be sure to command the attention of any room. These are defined by a very tall and narrow heels similar to pumps, but much higher in heel-length. Pair with your favorite little black dress and don’t be afraid to show off some leg, which these shoes will definitely flatter.

Rooftop Wine Tasting

Imagine this: You. A rooftop. This outfit. Glass of wine in hand. Sounds like a dreamy summer evening to us.

1. Strappy Wedges: A stacked wedge in a barely-there beige beautifully complements a flowing coral dress and a cold glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

2. Woven Clutch: The Southwestern-inspired woven print on this clutch make it a total outfit maker. We’re also obsessed with the tassel detail.

3. Lots Of Stacked Bracelets: A well-edited wrist brigade looks particularly great as you reach for that second (or third ) cheese cracker.

4. Long Beaded Necklace: Layer on this lightweight necklace for a dainty yet eclectic finishing touch to colors or prints (like this coral dress).

5. Retro Sunnies: You won’t want to be without these cat-eyed sunglasses as the sun sets.

We’re only two months into #MySoleSociety and Instagrams have been beyond gorgeous. Here’s the June highlights, plus links to shop them.

We’ve always loved the effortlessly chic style of blogger Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam. So obviously we were thrilled when she styled the Saraa in red (a beautifully woven platform wedge) while hanging out in a marina. Here’s  Julia on her beloved wedges:

“As I’m slowly adding heels back into a few looks, I find that wedges are a lot more comfortable since your weight is more evenly distributed. How cute are these red Sole Society woven ones? They’re a great pop of color for summer- especially if you buy mainly neutral colored shoes like I do- and wedges make it easier to be outside on grass as well.”
